Alvaro Salto king in his garden
7/10/2010 4:42:26 PM
Spain's Alvaro Salto took the lead in Madrid on the first round and never let it go. He fired 67 today to win the Peugeot Tour Villa de Madrid 3 shots clear. He already won this trophy in 2003 and despite heat fans were there on course to support him to repeat the story.
Fellow Inigo Urquizu, Alps Tour member, signed for his best result of the season. He fired one eagle, three birdies and dropped two shots. He finished alone at second place. Then, completing the podium, third Spaniard Angus Domingo.
No change in the top 5 of the Alps Tour Order of Merit after Madrid week. Italian Matteo Delpodio increased his leading over Alan Bihan thanks to sixth place tie shared with Englishman Jason Palmer.
Next Alps Tour event will take place in Austria, from the 6th to 8th of August.

Spanish supremacy in Madrid
7/9/2010 9:51:33 PM
Those having a look on the leaderboard could think that Spaniards don't want to let the third Peugeot Tour title goes to foreign players. No less than 8 Iberian golfers are in top 10. Spain's Alvaro Salto, former Challenge Tour, is still leading after two rounds. He signed for 67 today and has now 2 strokes advantage ahead of fellows Angus Domingo and Inigo Urquizu with a total of -10.
Italian Delpodio won the first co-sanctioned event played in Valencia 4 months back and Scot Raymond Russell got the title at Emporda a few weeks later. Each time, Spanish players were very closed to lift the trophy.
Tomorrow, odds are more than good for a national win. The cut is fixed at +1 and 33 players out of 50 are from Spain.
